What you want to know before ordering
What does my domain cost from the second year?
It is shown for every extension right under the first-year price. For .de it is currently €19.00 per additional year, incl. 19 % German VAT. The search shows you the price of every extension.
How long am I bound, and how do I cancel?
For businesses, the periods of the additional terms apply (§ A7). You can cancel in the customer area or via “Cancel contracts here” at the bottom of every page.
Can I bring my existing domain?
Yes. You need the transfer code (AuthInfo, auth code) of your current provider. During the transfer you can keep your current name servers, then import your records as a zone file (BIND), check them and only then switch to our name servers. With an email package, the import fetches your mail into a new mailbox. Whether the transfer extends the term at the registry depends on the extension.
Do I need an email package to receive mail at my domain?
No. With the email forwarding included in every domain, mail to info@ and other addresses lands in your existing mailbox. Forwarding only receives; to write from these addresses too, you need a mailbox from an email package.
Where is my data processed?
Generally in the EU and the EEA. Data leaves the EEA only where a service requires it, for example for DNS resolution, which 11 of our 17 locations, those outside the EEA, also handle, at the registries of some extensions and at Twilio, Intercom and Stripe. The privacy policy describes the transfers to registries and service providers and names their legal basis in section 17; for business customers the data processing agreement (§ 2 (2)) governs DNS resolution.
