Frequent questions
Do my domains have to be with regfish?
Yes. Network, DNSSEC and plans apply to the domains in your regfish account. If your domains are still with another provider, move them to us with the transfer code.
How is the account billed?
With one collective invoice per account: every domain and the plan are their own line on it, so you can assign them per client. You find the invoice in the customer area; members with the role “Read invoices” see it too.
And if a domain is to move to another provider?
You get the transfer code in the customer area or by API, up to 3 times per domain and day, and pass it on. Towards businesses we withhold it only while due, undisputed or finally established charges from the same contract are open, towards consumers never (additional terms § A5 Abs. 1). Lift a transfer lock first.
What happens if you miss the commitment?
For businesses: on request you receive a credit of 10, 25 or 50% of the affected service’s net base fee for the month, depending on the availability reached. Claim it within 60 days of the month’s end in text form, as set out in § 9 of the SLA.
Do I need a plan for network, DNSSEC and API?
No. Network, DNSSEC, DynDNS, hidden primary, DNS API and MCP come with every domain. The plans add oversight (Pro) and nameservers under your own name and analytics (Business), each for every domain in the account.
Can I maintain my zones by API or AI agent?
Yes. The DNS API reads zones and writes their records; API keys get the same roles as members. Through MCP, AI agents have 31 tools. Zones come into being with the domain in the customer area; registering, transferring and cancelling stay there. There is no Terraform provider. Record types: A, AAAA, CNAME, CAA, ALIAS, TXT, MX, SRV, TLSA. NS and DS records, for example to delegate a subdomain, are created in the customer area.
Where are queries answered, and is there a data processing agreement?
We process your data in the EU and the EEA. DNS resolution also runs through 11 of our 17 locations outside the EEA, so your domain can be reached there. Some subprocessors also process in the USA, for example the support chat (data processing agreement § 2 Abs. 2, annex 3). The data processing agreement comes into force with your first contract for DNS, hosting or email (data processing agreement § 15 Abs. 1).
